Well, lasted another year here in Finland. March 1st marked the beginning of my third year here in Finland, and sweet goodbye’s to year #2.
It was also funny that Hanna and I bumped into another American, who by the way works for Nokia as well, and he was having difficulties trying to find refried beans. (People who relocated from the states to here will find that some things will not exist here in Finland, but these items do exist, you just gotta know where to look, ALEPA/SIWA stores usually have them)
I kind of felt for the guy and realized that I was like that too when I first moved here, looking for stuff that I took for granted in California as being there. Boy do I miss the days of where my shorts all year round, and having those refried beans for dinner… =)
After thinking a lot of my future web projects, I came to the conclusion, and perhaps some help from HR in Nokia and this other NOKIAN I met, maybe I could create this news service / web log / information directory for newcomers to Finland and the metropolitan area. This is the base of my project and more to come soon.
Its just in the beginning phases, but hopefully something interesting will come of it and hopefully some help / donations will come our way to get the site hosted with powerful equipment and have 24/7 availability. (or I just host it with Eminem (my computer’s name on the home network) and get another super computer for home use/mess around/ development..
We shall see where this project leads us….I promise to report about this at least once a month.
