The producer/director Ben Strout, who is also the CEO of MastersWork Media, has two Emmy Awards to his name from previous documentary projects.

“For all practical purposes, the Winter War is unknown to the great American public. What we had here was a classic David and Goliath story, the kind that always interests Americans”, says Strout.

The team began shooting in April 2004 and have travelled up and down Finland and into Russian Karelia, filming battlefields and the home front.

Now the crew are here for their third and final stint. The film will be given its first broadcast on PBS in the United States this summer, after which it will be released internationally. It is likely to be shown in Finland this autumn.
