Moving items & Party Time

Where do I start? I am now finally done moving my things to the new office in Lauttasaari.
Went to Hanna’s pre-grad party at her parents house. Roughly 40 people showed up, which was I thought a great success as I felt somewhat bored in the beginning, but was having lots of fun toward the later half of the party in the evening. Great time, great people, and great food and spirits.

Heading home on Sunday afternoon, and have noticed that it is starting to warm up now. It has been above the – sign for a couple of days now, and majority of the snow and ice has melted. Green grass is starting to appear along with flowers and the songs of birds in the morning chirping away is a nice sound to hear finally. Not to mention that it is starting to get lighter and lighter in the evenings too. Can’t wait to have this MID-SUMMER and some time off of work.

Having my things brought to me from the USA to my new apartment either today or tomorrow from the moving company. I am so excited, finally have a monitor to play with my computer….LOOK OUT NAPSTER…HERE COMES Rob!!!

Moving and “Buzz” words

Finally found out that we are moving our offices to Lauttasaari Office where most of my fellow co-workers are located at and they have the available space to hold the people and equipment for our project at hand.
Found out what my role will be in the project, and I am very excited to say that it will be a tough assignment, but looking forward to meeting people and learning something completley new. I no longer have my own office, but have a nice area by two large windows looking over the harbour and sea and I get a lot of sun light in the morning hours (when it is not snowing).
It will be nice during the summer when all the boats are sailing around. I’ll have to take a picture and show you all soon on the photo gallery page. I’ll keep you posted on that when the time comes.
I am also learning new “buzz words” too. I thought working at my old job in Digital Pre-press was tough with the buzz words. :)

Training of WLCS, and enjoying a BEER

Induction to WebLogic Commerce Servers and its fundamentals of the program. Traveled once again to a different Nokia office location in Mäkkylä.
Then off to another place for the remainder of the week actually working with a live version of WebLogic Commerce Server and learning about the fundamental aspects of the application. I learned a lot from the 5 day course and am looking forward to the future course with other programs that are tied together with WLCS.

Went out for the first time to get a taste of the night life in Helsinki with some of Hanna’s workmates and had a lot of fun with them. Even won some money at the black jack tables. It was a fun night and it was LONG evening.

First Inductions and Training

Went to our Valimo office of Nokia for my induction to Nokia meeting from 0900 to 1300. It is for the foreign employees to learn more about services offered by Nokia and also to have any of our questioned that we may have regarding our relocation and our curiosity of living abroad. I learned a few new things other than what I have already experienced visiting Finland and also learned vital information regarding the Nokia intranet and how useful it can be in finding general information on just about anything to do with Nokia. I finally met with my relocation consultant, Helka, and it was nice to match the voice, and emails to the face. :)

Went back to Tapiola to make sure that everything went well with the meeting and that Hannu received the files I worked on the night before. Also checked out my schedule for next few weeks regarding my training for WebLogic Commerce Server and Java Beans / Enterprise Java Beans.

Also got my sched. with my induction period which will be a 4 month training period with which Kalle and I went over and discussed regarding the training period.

I AM HAVING LOTS OF FUN WITH THIS JOB SO FAR!
