Easter Weekend in Finland

suomi.gif Went to Kajaani for Easter Weekend Ski Trip. Very nice town and the slopes were pretty nice, even thought the conditions were not as nice as the states. Too icy of conditions to really enjoy the slopes, but then I had to mess up my knee on the first run, so I really didn’t enjoy that day too much. Just had a great weekend and enjoyed the surrounding and friends that Hanna and I were with. Very nice cabin where we stayed at too. We roasted sausages over the fire place and drank beer and told stories (and watched some tv too!) We went from Helsinki to Lahti, then to Jyväskylä, then on to Iisalmi then onto Kajaani. It was roughly like going to San Francisco to Los Angeles. About 345 miles or 500 Kilometers. It took us about 8 hours or so to get there. Not bad of ride and it was not snowing the entire time we were driving. It did snow however all day on Sunday the 15th. It was nice to see it snow.

UnPacking Duties and Skiing

If all goes well today I will get my belongings from the moving company and I will finally have my personal computer up and running and have access to my music collection so that I can listen to my cd’s at work. I tried to listen to the internet radio stations, but Nokia’s firewall is really tight and will not allow me to gain access to those sites. Oh well. I guess they will have to endure my music collection. Now all I have to do is get some nice speakers to plug into my laptop at work and away I go. Now where is the local computer / component shop at? (What I really need is RADIOSHACK right now!) :(

Not much else going on but am going away for the Easter Holiday to Kajaani, Finland to go snowboarding with Hanna and our friends Timo and Salla at Vuokatti.(a ski resort in Northern Finland.)

Moving items & Party Time

Where do I start? I am now finally done moving my things to the new office in Lauttasaari.
Went to Hanna’s pre-grad party at her parents house. Roughly 40 people showed up, which was I thought a great success as I felt somewhat bored in the beginning, but was having lots of fun toward the later half of the party in the evening. Great time, great people, and great food and spirits.

Heading home on Sunday afternoon, and have noticed that it is starting to warm up now. It has been above the – sign for a couple of days now, and majority of the snow and ice has melted. Green grass is starting to appear along with flowers and the songs of birds in the morning chirping away is a nice sound to hear finally. Not to mention that it is starting to get lighter and lighter in the evenings too. Can’t wait to have this MID-SUMMER and some time off of work.

Having my things brought to me from the USA to my new apartment either today or tomorrow from the moving company. I am so excited, finally have a monitor to play with my computer….LOOK OUT NAPSTER…HERE COMES Rob!!!

Moving and “Buzz” words

Finally found out that we are moving our offices to Lauttasaari Office where most of my fellow co-workers are located at and they have the available space to hold the people and equipment for our project at hand.
Found out what my role will be in the project, and I am very excited to say that it will be a tough assignment, but looking forward to meeting people and learning something completley new. I no longer have my own office, but have a nice area by two large windows looking over the harbour and sea and I get a lot of sun light in the morning hours (when it is not snowing).
It will be nice during the summer when all the boats are sailing around. I’ll have to take a picture and show you all soon on the photo gallery page. I’ll keep you posted on that when the time comes.
I am also learning new “buzz words” too. I thought working at my old job in Digital Pre-press was tough with the buzz words. :)
